Capture One is a very functional and complex program, and like any such program, you may encounter difficulties or errors when working with it, which are related not only to understanding the interface or its tools, but also to how it works. Unfortunately, solving such errors often takes a lot of time for ordinary users, because it is normal for such users not to know how to solve such errors right away, and it is not always possible to find a solution on the Internet. We decided to try to simplify the task of finding solutions for Capture One and make a breakdown of the most popular errors that users may encounter.
The program is quite demanding to the hardware on which it runs and therefore many users who do not have the most top-end and expensive configurations, may encounter slow operation of the program. Of course, it is not a bug, but we could not pass by this problem and decided to give some tips on how to possibly increase the speed of the software.
Pay attention to the minimum performance requirements and make sure your computer meets them.
Next, you can close the panels in the program itself if you do not use them and open them only when needed, because each connected element and tool takes up resources of your computer.
If you don’t have the strongest video card, you can set the program’s performance settings to prioritize CPU usage to reduce the load on the GPU.
Try to optimize the catalogs you work with, because catalogs containing thousands of photos take up a lot of resources, including RAM. Split your catalogs and libraries into several smaller catalogs to reduce the load on RAM.
Also, don’t forget to check your drivers for updates and use only the most current stable versions.
The simplest and most obvious reason is outdated video card drivers. First of all, open the software of your GPU and check the updates section to see if your drivers are up to date, or if there is no software for your GPU, download drivers from the official website of your graphics card. In addition, try disabling OpenCL for image export (Settings-Performance). This may help to avoid the error if it is related to the video card.
Also, the problem may be in the lack of power, and you should try to export files by splitting them into several small collections so as not to overload the system and the program could cope with the load.
Also, to avoid errors due to cache problems, clear the cache. To delete cache files, locate these files under “C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\CaptureOne\ImageCore” and delete them manually. After deleting the folder, you will need to restart the program.
It most often occurs for two reasons. The first one is easy enough to eliminate – disable OpenCL, as we described above.
The second problem is not so obvious. It occurs when your device has both built-in and discrete video cards at once, and incorrect switching between them can cause errors. We recommend to disable automatic switching when working with the program and work only on the discrete video card.
Updating GPU drivers and clearing cache files (as in the error above) are also relevant steps for this problem.
Here again, we’re not looking at a program error, but at a common problem when working with the Dehaze tool. This tool can overexpose shadows and areas with black color.
In this case, first of all, try to refer to the white balance settings before you start working with the tool.
Then, when working with Dehaze, try using the Shadow Picker to find the optimal processing option by applying it to different areas of the image.
You can also manually control where the tool will be applied. To do this, create a layer or mask in advance and apply the tool only to the area you want, not to the entire image.
As you can see, since this software is popular and in demand it has a very strong development team and there are not many bugs that can occur. You can download Capture One from our website completely free of charge and in PRO version. You can do it either directly from the site or via torrent.
We hope that this short article will help you solve the problems you are having and continue to improve your professional image processing skills.
