Wise Force Delete is a free Windows utility from WiseCleaner that unlocks and deletes files and folders when Windows issues errors such as “File in use” or “Access denied.” The utility fixes problems by terminating processes using the file or removing restrictions on file access so that the deletion process runs smoothly.
What is it
Wise Force Deleter is a lightweight file unlocker/remover that is integrated with the windows explorer to allow the user delete the item that is blocked by lock or permissions and also by the running process. It is a free 32-bit and 64-bit Windows freeware that is created to address frequent deletion errors that are not dealt with by the normal Explorer.
Who makes it
The program is created and updated by WiseCleaner, which is a Windows application vendor whose official product page explains the purpose of the app and its ability to unlock and delete any file. An item in a list of Microsoft Stores indicates that it is also available on current Windows and provides information about permission requirements.
Key features
Fixes “Access is denied,” “File in use,” and “Sharing violation” errors by terminating locking processes or lifting file‑access restrictions.
Adds a convenient right‑click “Force Delete” entry so you can unlock and remove stuck files directly from Explorer.
Offers a portable build, letting technicians carry it on a USB drive without a full installation.
Available through the Microsoft Store for streamlined install and updates on supported Windows versions.
Free to use, with support for both 32‑bit and 64‑bit systems.
How it works
Windows prevents deletion when a file is locked by some other program or service, and will give error messages, Wise Force Deleter detects the locking processes and ends them, or it removes access restrictions to allow deletion. When it is opened in the context menu of Explorer it opens directly on the file of interest and takes you through the unlocking and removal process.
